About Us

WorkLink was established in 1997 to pilot innovative employment and transitional services for individuals with disabilities.

We are a progressive non-profit organization providing employment and educational consulting services to employers who are committed to building a strong, stable workforce that accurately reflects the unique and diverse population of the San Francisco Bay Area.

WorkLink is a program of TransCen, Inc. TransCen's mission is to establish a collaborative relationship among government, education, private agencies, advocacy groups and employers to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of model efforts that increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

At WorkLink, we provide the training and support needed by individuals with disabilities in order to help them:

  • Obtain career-oriented employment
  • Access their communities and participate in events they enjoy
  • Advocate for themselves
  • Become as independent as possible in their daily lives

Who are WorkLink jobseekers?

  • Individuals who have business degrees, technical certifications, and professional experience
  • Recent college graduates looking for their first professional opportunity
  • Professionals with a wealth of employment experience who have been downsized
  • Seasoned professionals who are re-entering the workforce

How you can help:

  • Hire a Project Advance candidate
  • Internship Program - help jobseekers gain meaningful on-the-job experience while you evaluate a potential employee
  • Mentor Program - introduce jobseekers to your business and provide them with real time answers to their career-related questions.
  • Create a job profile - this valuable information helps jobseekers target their job search and prepare for employment

Employment Services:

We offer recruitment and placement services for employers at no cost. We assess the current hiring and organizational needs of employers. WorkLink recruits and screens qualified applicants for those needs. Job seekers are provided with individualized services to develop career-oriented positions based on their skills and preferences. WorkLink assists jobseekers in determining their skills and interests and then provides assistance in finding positions that match the individual's preferences. We provide on-site support for the new employee to learn all needed work skills. We work closely with coworkers to supervise and direct the new employee. Follow-up services are provided as needed.

Community Work Program:

This program is entirely community based and provides consumers with up to 30 hours of service per week. This program serves people who wish to work but also have additional service needs. The individuals in the program typically work from six to fifteen hours a week and use their remaining service hours to address other social/recreational goals, such as learning to cook or working out at a gym.
