An Invitation to Participate

WorkLink offers different levels of participation to our Hiring Partners.

Level I. Volunteer Mock Interviews. You can help our jobseekers by providing real-life interview scenarios. Your feedback, expertise, and objective evaluations are crucial to preparing jobseekers for this all-important step of securing employment.

Level II. Job Profile. We want to learn about your organization. You want to help, but your time is very limited. Creating a Job Profile is a way for you to help jobseekers even when time is short. It's so easy! It only takes about 30 minutes to answer our Job Profile questions, and we can complete this together over the phone or in person. By gaining insight into various jobs, we are better able to assist jobseekers in their searches and employment preparation. And, a stronger understanding of your needs means that when we meet a jobseeker who would be an excellent fit for your group, we can share that individual's resume with you and arrange for an interview if appropriate.

Level III. Mentor Program. Participating in WorkLink's Mentor Program is a great way to introduce jobseekers to your business and provide real time answers to their career-related questions. Each Mentor module lasts from five to ten business days.

The Mentor Program starts with an informational meeting that includes the Mentor, Jobseeker, and a WorkLink representative. Mentors and Jobseekers will be matched according to the professional interests of the Jobseeker. The informational meeting gives all participants an opportunity to ask and answer questions in a comfortable environment. The next step is Job Shadowing, which means the Jobseeker is spending from one to five days, or partial days, at your location. Most Mentors set up a schedule for the Jobseeker to spend some time with the different employees in order to get a "feel" for the work that is being performed. At the end of the Mentor Module, the WorkLink representative will meet with the Mentor and Jobseeker for feedback.

Level IV. Internship. The Internship Program is either paid or non-paid, and length is determined on a case-by-case basis. The Internship Program is a great way for your company to help jobseekers gain meaningful on-the-job experience. It also gives you the opportunity to evaluate a potential employee. For the Intern, the result is the acquisition of real-life job skills that will benefit the Intern in his/her job search. These responsibilities are created according to the needs of your team or department. A WorkLink representative will meet with you to help you determine the Intern's responsibilities. Usually, the responsibilities start at a pretty basic level and then grow as the Intern becomes more adept at the work being performed.

When the Internship is completed, you will be asked to evaluate the Intern's performance during the program. This information is often the key for an Intern who has recently graduated and is looking for their first job, or for an individual who is making a career transition or re-entering the workforce. WorkLink will check in with you on at least a weekly basis to ensure that the process is going smoothly.

Level V. Hiring Partner. Congratulations! As a Hiring Partner, you have a made the decision to strengthen your organization's diversity commitment. The hiring process with WorkLink is very much like other hiring scenarios. When an available opportunity within your organization is identified, we will present you with the resume and interview summary of a qualified candidate. We may occasionally share appropriate candidate resumes with you proactively. We are happy to manage the interview scheduling for you, including checking additional employment references, or you can contact the candidate directly and take care of the process internally. Please feel free to share your accommodation questions with us. We are here to ensure that the hiring process is comfortable for both you and your new employee, and we are available at any time during the hiring and employment period to assist you.
