Community Support Services: Setting Goals, Building Skills, and Measuring Success
The goal of Community Support Services is to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live productive, meaningful lives. But, what makes a life meaningful? The answer to this question is different for everyone and must be based on an individual’s interests, values, and life experiences. Therefore, serving someone in a “meaningful way” requires that support plans be “built to order.” During this webinar, we will: (1) look at ways to identify a person’s goals and how to use this information to develop an individualized service plan and custom schedule; and (2) participants will learn ways to create connections, build confidence, and teach employability and other critical skills in community settings. The presenter will share tools and strategies for setting meaningful goals, documenting progress, and measuring service outcomes.
Presenter:
Sara Murphy, Director of WorkLink, TransCen’s San Francisco-based employment program for job seekers with disabilities.
