Read how we helped him find a perfect employment opportunity by exploring his skills and personal interests!
Matt’s journey with us began when his upcoming internship was delayed due to COVID-19. His family reached out to our Wisconsin office – Creative Employment Opportunities (CEO) to see if we could help him. The team at CEO enrolled him in Skills to Pay the Bills – a hands on workshop developed by CEO that helps people develop and improve their soft skills. He was very active throughout the week-long class and the team knew he’d be a great employee somewhere.
CEO went through the discovery process with Matt to see what his interests, goals, and skills were. Matt loves all things sports, he is very personable and friendly, and always stops for a chat whenever he is out and about. CEO was able to connect Matt to several job shadows and informational interviews, which help expose him to different types of jobs and employers. CEO eventually found a work experience for Matt at the Naga-Waukee War Memorial Golf Course where he sanitizes and parks the golf carts.
Matt has been such a huge help to the golf pros at the course that they offered him a permanent position and expanded his duties. Matt loves his job and has a great support system at the golf course. His favorite part, of course, is driving the golf carts. Golf is all Matt wants to talk about. He is currently teaching Mariah, his job coach, how to play the game.
